Climate change poses various challenges to the county’s communities, ecosystems, and economy at large. The workshop aimed at building capacities of women leaders and agricultural practitioners. Empowering women in agriculture has a positive impact on climate adaptation. By providing appropriate technology and resources, we are able to promote more sustainable farming and conservation practices. And by reducing poverty, we can help individuals better adapt to the effects of climate change. During the training, 41 participants attended the meeting where 37 were women and 4 men.

Kajiado County is mainly semi-arid where the Maasai pastoral economy is primarily dominant. Cutting down of trees, overgrazing and sand harvesting have greatly affected the environment within the county. The activity was implemented to create awareness to different members and especially women in leadership and those in agricultural practices. Throughout the training above 31 participants were reached during the meeting that is 26 women who are CSO leaders and 5 chiefs from different locations.

Wajir County, located in northeastern Kenya, is one of the regions in the country that is highly affected by climate change and its associated impacts. The county’s main source of income is livestock keeping which has been affected greatly by unpredictable rainfalls. The county faces a range of climate-related challenges that have significant implications for its communities, economy, and environment. 40 participants were reached during the meeting with 35 women who are CSO leaders and 5 men.

The county’s climate situation is characterized by irregular and unpredictable rainfall patterns, leading to water scarcity, low agricultural productivity and drought. Therefore, hosting a capacity building activity on climate change in Isiolo aimed at equipping the participants with knowledge on climate change resilience. 40 Isiolo residents participated in the meeting, who included 37 women and 3 men.
